 Frequently Asked Questions

Want to Restore your Metal Roof but Don’t Care About Every Leak? – 20% Savings

We can apply coating systems without the full seam-sealing Waterproofing System underneath, and save you around 20%. We address your current leaks and most vulnerable and potential leak entry points in a target fashion rather than throughout the entire roof. For some clients, this savings is more important than comprehensive leak elimination.

What is in the White AE Coating Material

We use only premium, industrial-grade white acrylic elastomeric coatings, formulated using the Rohm and Haas resin (now Dow Chemical), a 100% acrylic polymer that provides outstanding adhesion and superior flexibility and reflectivity. It is formulated to resist cracking and peeling, and provides excellent waterproofing capabilities. The bright white finish reduces metal roof temperatures, thereby minimizing thermal expansion and contraction. Under-the-roof temperatures are reduced, thus lowering energy costs. Some custom colors are available.

How is the White Acrylic Elastomeric Coating System applied?

To achieve the standard 15-year system, the White Elasomeric Coating (water-based) must be applied in a two-coat process.  The first coat goes on and is left overnight to cure (90% cured) enough to put on the second coat the next day.  Both coats are spray-applied to achieve a uniform coat and ensure that the coating wears evenly over its life.

What are the possible risks during application of the White Acrylic Elastomeric Coating?

Air temperature must exceed 50 degrees to spray and properly adhere and cure this product to the roof to prevent the water in the coating from freezing.  As with any spraying, wind can drive coating materials over the edge of the roof.  Not only are we fully covered on all insurance issues, but our water-based White Acrylic Elastomeric comes off easily with a rag and water.  Unexpected rain can cause delays and significant material loss (because of it’s water base).  We take careful measures in assessing the weather forecast.  All costs associated with material loss are covered by CPR.

Is this a water-based or oil-based (mineral spirits) product?

Primarily, we use the water-based White Acrylic Elastomeric, but we use oil-based (mineral spirits) White Acrylic Elastomeric in unique circumstances.
